Interview:

Host: What motivated you to choose the Legal sector as a domain of work and how has been your career span?

Vandana: Here is my journey which explains my reason to be legal and compliance professional. I did my CS from Institute of Company Secretaries of India because I always wanted to be a governance professional and simultaneously did my MBA (finance) from Symbiosis, Pune to give me an edge over understanding finance deeply (very important when you are signing Financial Statements). Thereafter, I pursued to study LL.B from CCS University, Meerut to diversify my horizon and be a combination of both legal and governance professional. Grabbing these qualifications helped me pursue my career in eminent organizations: Dr.Reddys, NIIT, IQVIA, Caspian and currently Ryan.

Host: As a professional how did you deal with the challenges and also how did you figure out the solutions to counter these challenges?

Vandana: Challenges for me are always welcoming thing which gives me an opportunity to learn and grow. I always try to find innovative methods to deal with it. For example: in one of my past company where I constantly had a challenge how to improve client's experience by reducing the TAT of legal documentation execution, I had successfully completed a project of consolidating various legal documents and digitalize them for easy execution, this helped a lot in reducing TAT and improve profits for the business. I have also have been successful in establishing the Corporate Governance Framework at IQVIA India and currently doing the same for Ryan India. Further, the laws keeps on changing, I always try to keep myself updated. Also, diversifying my knowledge on non-core legal areas help me to overcome challenges, it gives me edge to be "Master of All".

Host: Time is money in any profession and in legal it's most of all. How do you ensure to make the best of your time as a lawyer?

Vandana: I always prioritize things in a form of matrix where I define which items are firefighting, high importance, low importance and not urgent. It helps me to give equal importance and justice being both a legal and compliance professional.
